A Love Story for Bedtime

I wrote this bedtime love story for my little girl earlier in the year when settling her to sleep. She is fond of fairytales. I wanted to ignite her spirit with an inner search, offer her a story that celebrates the feminine, is imbued with yogic principles while feeding the soul with a romance of life’s potential. If you set an intention like that, sometimes story just comes. Does this one resonate with you? May it delight. x

A touch of love

If you are feeling single and dateless when evening hits, try not to get swept away in sorrow. In truth, you are not alone. If you tune into the universal truths, you realise that you are never alone; the universe is always supporting your efforts. Know this; you are not your thoughts. You are not your feelings.

So instead of feeling alone, connect with the energy of Love.

A Yoga Love Poem

I wrote this yoga love poem some time ago and thought I would share it now as I sit in a delicious space of creating and planning for the WellBeing Yoga Immersions for Love. It equally serves for lovers and those waiting for the wings of love. It can also be felt as a calling or uniting wholeness within yourself...

Cultivating Compassion

In the authoritative ancient text, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, karuna or compassion is one of the four ways of relating to others. Compassion towards those who are suffering. Compassion can sometimes be difficult, especially if someone’s suffering is aimed at you.

Cultivating Joy

October and November 2015 have been my biggest publishing months to date. I have around 25,000 words published across three WellBeing publications this month and am busy writing more.

I've also been interviewed by Ayurved Sutra on how to become more compassionate and loving through yoga.

I love writing so much, and sharing ancient wisdom teachings through the craft.

Golden Light, Good Night

I sit and wonder and breathe and surrender. But have I really surrendered? Do I understand what it means to completely let go of the outcome? Do you?

I sit and wait and feel the vidya stirring my heart. I let go, but have I really? Do I understand?

“I want, I hear you say”. The universe is talking to me now.
“I need this for this reason” Spirit echoes me back to myself.
“All in perfect timing”, comes the reply.

Imagining the WellBeing Yoga Immersion weekends...

Imagine…

You feel rushed, a little apprehensive, then enter a space that has been so beautifully, meditatively prepared, filled with indelible intentions for your own exploration, that you relax. As you enter, you start to let go and listen to soothing sounds of yoga music as it flows through your ears and into your heart, softening you while you look for a space to call home for the weekend amongst others that you haven’t yet met. I smile at you, chanting softly, then bring you an oil to soothe your marma points and clear your energy. You roll out your mat. As you take a breath in, you breathe a sacred scent from the oil and another from the love altar; a divine scent from ancient times, welcoming and nurturing your senses.

Kids Yoga

I have been gifted with mothering. My two children are amazing little beings of light, and I love being mummy to them. They can also be incredibly challenging, like all kids can for their own parents. My kids remind me to grow, stay young enough at heart to play, treasure and get lost in the simplest of moments together, and find beauty in life no matter how busy a day can get. I love my children and I also love yoga. I love practicing on the mat alone, but that’s another blog.

New Meditation for Peace

I wrote a new meditation for peace a couple of weeks ago for the Hills to Hawkesbury Living magazine.

I recorded the audio version to be suitable for people of all ages, from preschoolers to adults. My son has a taken a liking to falling asleep to it, and asks to hear this one, or the kids yoga nidra every night. We lie together, listening, relaxing and letting go after his long day of kindergarten (my daughter on the other hand falls asleep more easily than him).

Click here for the meditation, then scroll past the written version for the audio.

There's other meditations of mine you can listen to online, including my love meditation, or the adults or kids yoga nidras.

If there is something specific you need and would like me to write you a meditation, please contact me and I'll create one for you.

Relax and be at peace, and be supported by the divine universal love within and all around you.

May all beings everywhere be happy and free.

Om Shanti, Peace at Home

Shanti, Shanti? I’m calling my cat of ten years. I’ve named her Peace for a reason. Shaaaantiiii. I love calling Peace into Nature as the darkness falls upon the night sky. Peace, I call out in Sanskrit, and wait for a softly furred, four legged friend to enter through the front door for her dinner.

I’m also calling to my heart, to remind myself to embody peace within the chaos of a young family in an intimate space...

The Eye of the Veda

I’m listening to my Vedic Astrology reading from Yogini Shambhavifrom earlier this year. This was a very special opportunity, to receive a reading from such a Jyotish adept and spiritual master as is she. Yogini Shambhavi provided so many beautiful remedies, simple suggestions and rituals for harmony to appease the planetary forces. She confirmed my spiritual path and my work, my potentials, and explained my nature with heightened accuracy, highlighting strengths and abilities, and pointed out the difficulties I face with remedies to pacify afflictions, as well as the many good times ahead. The reading shows the dasha periods I’ve endured and the positive ones forthcoming.

The Yoga of Mess

Namaste. This is me, in equanimity amidst mess. With two small children my home is often dishevelled, a special thanks to my three year old boy. He is adorable by the way, and incredibly messy.

It’s hard to contain mess in such a small home, and I don’t want to contain the creative spirit, to dampen the imaginative fire by being rigid or fixed, so I allow for mess and find myself constantly cleaning up, like most mums I guess. Here’s the yoga of it. It’s service; karma yoga.

The Yoga of Self Acceptance

Does your kindness for others include kindness to yourself, or are you much harder on yourself than you are on others? Do you place unrealistic demands on yourself that you would never expect anyone else to live up to, yet berate yourself for not doing enough, being enough, being good enough when you fail to meet your own high standard?

more

The Yoga of Surrender

A lot of people consider Yoga as a form of exercise with a bit of unusual breathing and a rest thrown in at the end. Is this you, or someone you know? Yoga Teachers don’t mind, because the health benefits are far reaching irrespective of how spiritual you want to take your practice. Yet Yoga is a spiritual path, and Patanjali clearly states that this sattvic lifestyle needs a surrender; Ishvara Pranidhana - surrendering to the divinity within. It is a beautiful way to live, surrendering, yet how many of us do?

Who is Kylie Terraluna for the WellBeing Yoga Immersions?

Here’s a little about me, to help you understand where I come from and what kind of yoga teacher I am for the WellBeing Yoga Immersions.

The word, ‘wellbeing’ is another name for happiness, and every word I have ever written for WellBeing Magazine has been and continues to be an act of pure love. It’s a written form of yoga teaching for me, whether I’m writing about yoga, or spiritual circles or sustainability, it’s all yoga. These Immersions are the live component of years of printed articles, and more than that, they too are an act of love.

Yoga for Sex

If you are following a yoga path - living more consciously, embracing ahimsa (non-violence), aiming for sattvic (pure) interactions of peace, love and intimacy - has this translated into more meaningful sexual experiences for you yet? We live in a society that cheapens sex, advertising wants to get into our pockets through our pants and makes light hearted fun of sex. Even health research propounds the need for more of it for better health. Yet no sex is better than bad sex, don’t you think?

Yoga of Bliss

The idea of transformation can be misunderstood. To transform into something other than yourself is not the idea of yoga. A caterpillar transforms into a butterfly but is still the same being as it was. Like the caterpillar, a flower blossoms, but doesn’t do so in an effort to improve on itself, it is simply living in harmony with it’s nature. Yogic transformation is also not one of self improvement, it is one of self awareness.

Yogic Prayer Practice

As a yogi/yogini of love, when something touches you deeply, like natural disasters in the world and the suffering and death it can bring, you can dedicate your yoga practice to easing the suffering of people, a person or group on a small or global scale. This raises your own consciousness, and helps develop compassion and peace, putting your sufferings into perspective and easing them as well. You can do a yoga prayer practice alone or in a group, harnessing the power of the group energy to help bring about healing for others.
