Home now - a poem

I go,
And I write,
And I feel for my breath,
And as I do,
I feel a caress,
Of warmth on my cheek,
I missed you, my friend,
The warmth of the sun,
With rays that amend.

And in that moment,
Drinking glass after glass,
Of fresh, hot water,
That I’ve longed to do,
My body turns to me and says,
‘Thank you.’
And welcomes me to come back to myself,
For it is time,
For repair,
Time for renew.

As I sit and I sip, I feel at peace,
I’ve come home to myself,
I’ve been released,
I made it back,
Piece by piece.

So here I am,
Now, what do I do?
I need to begin,
Yet my thoughts are of you.

I guide myself,
To stay on track,
Harness the energy,
Bring it all back,
Gain strength and power,
Hour by hour,
Be here, be present,
Let creativity flower.

I need to write,
I need to express,
Beyond the deadlines,
I need more, not less.

So I sit and I wait,
And I breathe,
And I think,
And I tell myself,
With paper and ink,
Just feel.

As I do,
I then allow,
I adjust,
I relax,
All is okay,
I’m home now.
